                    CHEAP TALENT NEEDED!!!

The Costa Rica Mission Team is looking for a few talented persons to perform at the “Luncheon of Love” on Sunday, Feb.17th.  We are going to pass the hat at the end of each act in an effort to boost our donations at the luncheon. You could be the performer that brings in big bucks for our mission trip.  Call Nancy Mitchell at 691-8026, or email at wade_mitchell@webbschool.org if you would be willing to help us out!

                                 FROM THE PASTOR

Here is the third, and last, of our General Rules.  We have contemplated what it means to do no harm and what it means to do good.  This week, the general rule focuses on the things we must do in order to continue to grow in our faith.  Once again, in John Wesley’s own words.

It is expected of all who desire to continue in these societies that they should continue to evidence their desire of salvation,

Thirdly: By attending upon all the ordinances of God; such are:

  • The public worship of God.
  • The ministry of the Word, either read or expounded.
  • The Supper of the Lord.
  • Family and private prayer.
  • Searching the Scriptures.
  • Fasting or abstinence.

These are the General Rules of our societies; all of which we are taught of God to observe, even in his written Word, which is the only rule, and the sufficient rule, both of our faith and practice. And all these we know his Spirit writes on truly awakened hearts.

It is my prayer that God truly awaken our hearts so that his Spirit may write his words there in.  See you in church where we strive to stay in love with God.

                                 Mike

VOLUNTEER MINISTRY CENTER MISSION TEAM NEWS

The team of Steve Richards, Linda Powell, Corky Brooks, Daleta Sawyer, and Lee Sherbakoff prepared and served lunch for approximately 144 people at the Volunteer Ministry Center. This is the largest number that the teams have served. The 4th Saturday of every month, a team from Bearden prepares and serves lunch at the Volunteer Ministry Center, a homeless shelter. Why does Bearden UMC serve? That's just who we are as God's people. Radical way of living.
