FROM THE PASTOR
Go Crazy Over Sunday School – Bible Sunday!
This Sunday is “Bring Your Bible Sunday” as part of our February Sunday School emphasis. Of course this really should be the norm for our studies every week. The whole event of “Go Crazy Over Sunday School” from the E-Team’s perspective was to lay a foundation for reaching out by getting folk into “The Word.”
This Sunday some may bring a family bible that goes back generations or their first bible. We will take time during worship to do some highlighting. If several of you will call me, we would like to set up a table in order to share these treasures.
However, displays and treasures of the past are only a small part of the bible story. The bible story is about opening the doors of our understandings’ of God. It is about helping us enter a relationship with Christ. So really “Go Crazy Over Sunday School” is about going lovingly crazy over the bible, our church family, and “The Word of God!”
Bring your bible! Read you bible! Then let God anoint you with insight and a life-walk in Him!
In Christ, TLS
BEARDEN UMC MISSION TEAMS IN ACTION
Last month Bearden’s Team #1 (Steve and Sandy Richards, Linda Powell, Kim Lee, Natalie Broyles) prepared and served lunch to over 100 people at the Volunteer Ministry Center. This Saturday Team #2 will prepare and serve lunch. Every 4th Saturday of the month there is a Bearden team preparing and serving lunch for the homeless in our community. Remember the people who are serving and being served in your prayers this week.
Bearden's Habitat Work Team will be installing a floor system this Saturday at a Habitat house. If you want to join the team, call Leigh Cheek at 584-6018.
Amanda and Corinthian and their three children were IHN guests at our church during our last host week. Several of you who worked that week will remember this family. They moved into an apartment last Friday! Amanda was interviewed by Channel 8 news on Friday. In her interview, she said they had slept in their car and in houses with no heat before arriving at IHN. She said it was hard but "you just got to keep Christ in front". The family thanked the churches for their love and care. We give thanks for God that we can be apart of this ministry. We also ask God's blessings on this family as they begin their new journey.
It's a good week for missions at Bearden UMC!

FISH REPORT FOR FEBRUARY
Total Calls Received 30 Number of Food Deliveries Made 29 Number of Food Requests Picked Up at Church 1 Number of People Helped (59 adults, 52 children) 111 Number of Bearden UMC Volunteers (18 adults, 6 youth) 24
FISHfact: January’s FISHfact recognized one of two ladies who responded to our plea for additional deliverers on the firth Wednesday of every month. The other volunteer was Beth Adam, and she also has been a Bearden member less than two years. Her first FISH service was in January, when her children (Lauren, Caroline, and Justin) were out of school. Although an experienced deliverer could have joined them, they went unassisted to two subsidized-apartment units and to the residence of a very old lady who lived alone in East Knoxville. The Adam’s clients were people who are not privileged to enjoy the conditions that most West Know County residents have, and in Beth’s words, “It gave us plenty to talk about at dinner that evening.” Thus, an unanticipated benefit, besides feeling good, resulted from two hours’ contribution. Would you like to join us on March 7th? Call Nancy Mitchell at 691-8026.
The UMW Spring Rummage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 21st beginning at 7:30 a.m. If you haven’t cleaned out your closets, attics, basements, or garages in a while, now would be the perfect time! If you are donating any textiles (clothing, linens, etc.), please place them in plastic bags to protect them from the elements while in the UMW storage shed. We appreciate your efforts!
