HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Flooring system on Saturday, February 24

Bearden UMC has the opportunity to help Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, February 24 to build a floor system, i.e. setting floor trusses and laying the plywood sheets on top. This house will be part of a 7-house blitz in April and is part of Habitat’s new subdivision, October Woods, off of Rutledge Pike. We will work from 8 a.m. until afternoon (depending on how quickly the work goes). We need a group of about 15 workers as well as a committee of about 5 to prepare lunch. Please sign up on the sheet in the sanctuary on Sunday, January 28th. Materials for a flooring system cost between $2,000 and 2,500. Any donation to offset this cost would be a blessing.

Volunteers will be contacted later with directions to the site and suggested clothing and tools list. For more information, contact Leigh Cheek at 584-6018 or Cheeklc_2000@yahoo.com.

                  JOYCE STEWART MISSIONARY FUND

In 1997, the Joyce Stewart Missionary Fund was established from a bequest made to the church from the will of a charter member, Joyce Stewart.  The fund is used exclusively for mission related purposes.  The fund consists of two parts, the permanent part invested to generate a continual source of revenue for the available part.  If you have a request for a mission project, please submit in writing to Susan Yanno (alandsusanyanno@aol.com) for review by the Mission and Outreach Team.  Their next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6.

                                  YOUTH NOTES

The youth will be having a Super Bowl party on Sun., Feb. 4th. We will leave from the church at 6 p.m. and go to Darryl and Linda Millis’ home for the party. Parents can pick up their youth at church after halftime. Snacks, fun, games, devotion, and fellowship for all.

The parents of Jr. High Age Youth will have a meeting on

Feb. 11th at 10 a.m. during the first 10 minutes of Sunday School. We will be introducing additions to the Sunday School Teaching rotation and giving the overall plan for Jr. High Sunday School. Youth and Parents will be attending the meeting.

Thank you to the youth who did a wonderful job in leading the worship services last Sunday. It was a wonderful experience.
