                FISH REPORT FOR NOVEMBER

Total Call Received                                                     30

No. of Food Deliveries Made (1 no such address)      27

No. of Food Requests Picked Up at Church                 2

No. of People Helped (51 adults; 69 children)           120

No. of Bearden Volunteers (19 adults, 15 youth)        34

FISHfact:  Recently, in this space, we’ve been recognizing folks who have “stepped up” to our need for help as we take phone calls, and deliver groceries, on first Wednesdays...  But before those things can happen, something else must.  And it always has, month by month.  Today we need to recognize a whole group of volunteers who are ESSENTIAL to Bearden’s FISH mission.  On the Sunday evening preceding our delivery day, Bearden’s young men and women use their strength and desire to help in moving 50 to 60 heave sacks of groceries from the Pantry on Weisgarber to our choir room.  They use a church bus and loaned truck(s), raining or not, daylight or dark, and things are always done well – automatically, it seems.  Those of us who answer the phone, package “specials” and deliver groceries don’t have to give our youthful helpers’ work any thought, and therefore we don’t think to thank them enough, nor as often as we should.  So today, a big THANK YOU, and we invite the congregation to also thank our young people for their FISH assistance.

                                  FROM THE PASTOR

Your staff here at Bearden UMC would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.  May you be keenly aware of the blessings you have from God and take the opportunity to praise God for each of them.  Paul tells us in Ephesians 5:18-20, “Be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  As we talked about Sunday, let us live our lives with an attitude of gratitude.  May God bless you and keep you in His grace now and forever.  See you in church.

                                   Mike

                             A LITTLE CHRISTMAS

As we celebrate the gifts of Peace, Love and Hope given to all of us this Christmas, we rely on the church staff to make our Advent season (and every day at church) calm and centered on Christ.  Our staff nurtures our visions, keeps our ministries and missions on track, and serves as agents of God’s love and caring for us.  Staff-Parish encourages all who want to thank staff members for their service and dedication to offer a special gift of Love.  Please mark your gift as “Staff Christmas” and the SPR team will make sure all our folks receive a special gift for the holiday.  We will collect “Staff Christmas” through December 16th.  Remember to designate your gift as “Staff Christmas.”  You may drop it in the collection plate, mail or bring to the church office.  Thank you for sharing the gift of Love.
