              THE LOVE LANGUAGES OF GOD

Beginning February 15; Facilitator:  Laughlin Smith

We feel most loved when others speak our primary love language.  We are drawn to those people because they are meeting our basic need to feel loved.  Dr. Gary Chapman examines how this concept relates to God’s agape love.  Does God demonstrate His love for us mainly through acts of service, or words or affirmation, or gifts, or quality time?  The goal of this study is to expand your understanding of love for God and others. If you have questions or would like to look at the study guide, please see Donna.

             COLLEGE-AGE MINISTRY KICK-OFF LUNCH

Lunch is scheduled for this age group on February 26th right after worship.  We will be advertising to the local neighbors (especially in the apartment buildings on Sutherland Ave.) to come visit Bearden, have lunch and a time of fellowship.  Help is needed!  We need: folks to hand out flyers in the neighborhoods, food preparers, food servers, and a clean up crew.  If you would like to help in any way with the college-age ministry, please call Michelle McClure 385-7953.

                      FEBRUARY 16, 2006

This date has been designated as a special day of prayer for our Pond Gap Summer Outreach programs.  Please mark this date on your calendar as we continue to plan and organize these programs.  Sign up sheets will be located in each Sunday School classroom on Feb. 12 and in the Atrium.  If you are not currently attending a Sunday School class, please use the sign up in the Atrium.  God has blessed Bearden UMC beyond measure with this home mission opportunity.  In order to fulfill the mission before us, it will simply have to be a church wide effort.  What a wonderful opportunity to not only touch the lives of so many children, but to bond together as a congregation working hand-in-hand in service to our Lord.  If you have questions regarding this outreach ministry, please do not hesitate to call Pastor Tom or myself.         –Donna Lewis

CAN YOU HELP?

The IHN Day Center is moving from 103 South Gay Street to 317 Harley Drive (a house adjacent to the Church of the Ascension) on Feb 11th at 9:00 am.  If you can help with the move, please call Lori or Kelly at the IHN office (#329-8991). There is also a need for someone to install the door to the IHN Director's office and change the doorknobs and latches for 3-4 doors.  If you are handy with fix-it upper kind of things, then IHN could really use you this Saturday.
