                      HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT

  • Refresh your mind by reading the ‘good news’

             in the Bible.

  • Face the billowy breeze of the Holy Spirit.
  • Swim continually in God’s love
  • Shower yourself with God’s beautiful blessings.
  • Drink from the springs of living water that will quench your thirst forever.
  • Keep cool and calm in the middle of an

             argument.

  • When you receive lemons, make tasty

             lemonade.

  • Break the ice with someone with whom you are holding a grudge.
  • Create a pleasant climate in your home where

             joy can grow.

  • Splash on all of God’s gifts and become a

             sweet smelling fragrance.

                                  FROM THE PASTOR

What a great time to invite!

“Tom, you must be kidding?  Think about vacations, the lake, reunions, and the like.  Think how they reduce our numbers and the choir and the things like that.  Maybe we should wait until Autumn?”

No!  I stand by my original statement.  We have just come off two missions (IHN and Costa Rica); we are in the midst of a great outreach and VBS season.  We are having a bunch of babies baptized.  What better time to show visitors the essence of who and what we are about – the love of God and touching people with that love!

I believe people want to be involved in something that is vital and that is making a Kingdom of God difference.  God is calling Bearden to be a difference maker.  As the Holy Spirit leads, we will become a transformed people who are about a transformational ministry!

What a great time to invite!!

  1. Jr. High & Sr. High Assembly.  This is an awesome week of worship and fellowship.  A wonderful chance to meet a lot of great people as you grow closer to God in your walk.  There are fun activities such as games, talent shows and festivals.  A good time to spend a week at Emory & Henry College meeting other young people in Holston Conference the week of July 10-14.  Contact Shea McClure is you are planning to attend [385-8321].  The cost of the week long camp is $110.

  1. Braves/Six Flags Trip (Aug. 7 & 8).  Limited space is available and we need to pre-order tickets.  Your cost of $50 is due by July 31.  We will be going to a Braves game at night and staying at a United Methodist Church.  The next day we will be going to Six Flags for a fantastic time!

  1. Smokies Gam (July 24).  Join us for a day at the ballpark!  We will leave the church at 6 p.m. to watch the Carolina Mudcats play the Smokies.  The ticket will cost $10 but if you bring your church bulletin, it will be $1 off.  Hot dogs are also $1 that night.  Please contact Shea McClure if you are planning to attend [385-8321].
