                            MISSIONS NEWS

Two years ago the Missions and Outreach Team made a goal to support and coordinate a foreign mission trip.

God provided a supportive pastor, a “gung ho” youth leader, 18 team members, and a congregation who bought Christmas wreaths, played golf, purchased Elderly Brothers cds, cooked and ate pancakes, washed cars and paid to have their cars washed, participated in a youth auction, emptied their pockets of dollars over and over again, and prayed and prayed.  Bearden’s first overseas mission team is in Costa Rica!  Thank you for supporting the overseas mission team efforts. By following God’s leading, you have made it happen. All praise and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Please pray for the following folks this week:  Kelsey & Natalie Broyles, Steele Cantey, Ramsey Cohen, Chance Cox, Brad Houser, Kate & Sam Lee, Shea McClure, Carty McSween, Chris & Linda Millis, Grant & Wade Mitchell, Becca Proctor, Mattea Sanders, & Charla & Thomas Sherbakoff.

On May 27th Steve Richards, Trevor Martin, Mike

Sherrill, Butler Cooper and Susie Holden prepared and served lunch at the Volunteer Ministry Center.  On Sat.,

June 24, Team #2 (Rob & Kathy Houser, Bob & Linda

Smith & Lee Sherbakoff) will do the same.  If you want to

be involved in this ministry, call Charla Sherbakoff at

450-5078.  It only takes about two hours on a Saturday morning but a lifetime of blessings come with it.

Did you hear?  We provided 143 school kits for Zimbabwe!!  See what we can do when we set our minds to it!  Thanks everyone for your generosity!

                             PRICE INCREASE

The Flower Peddler, the florist from whom we receive

our altar flower arrangements, has informed us that beginning July 1, the cost of the altar flowers will be $40.  (We really can’t complain since this is the first price increase in over 15 years!)

                                FROM THE PASTOR

Have you read “The Da Vinci Code?”  Have you seen the movie?  Have you watched a TV program about it?  Have you overheard a talk radio fiasco about it?  If not, where have you been?

Enough already!  This Sunday I am going to unleash my vast storehouse of Vanderbilt educated knowledge and preach about the most important code in the bible.  Someone call Larry King, someone else call Katie (not her, she’s not even on TV until the fall), or call channels 6, 10, 43, 76 hike (sorry, I got carried away, but football season is only 68 days away).

Seriously, I know the code and I’m going to give it to you.  Invite a pilgrim to journey with you.  Blessings,

                                       In Christ,

                                       TLS

         LESSONS LEARNED FROM NOAH’S ARK

Everything I needed to know about life, I learned from

Noah’s ark.

  1. Don’t miss the boat.
  2. Remember we’re all in the same boat.
  3. Plan ahead,  It wasn’t raining when Noah built

             the ark.

  1. Stay fit.  When you’re 600 years old, someone

may ask you to do something really big.

  1. Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
  2. Build your future on high ground.
  3. For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
  4. Speed isn’t always an advantage.  The snails

were on board with the cheetahs.

  1. When you’re stressed, float awhile.
  2. Remember the ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
  3. No matter the storm, when you’re with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

                                TAPE MINISTRY

Bearden provides tapes of our worship services to our shut-ins.  Some of the tapes are returned to us but not many.  As a result, we’ve recently had to purchase blank cassettes and our

funds are running low for this ministry.  We would appreciate any, and all, small donations you might be able to help out with.  Thanks!
