              FISH REPORT FOR NOVEMBER

Total Calls Received                                                   35

Number of Food Deliveries Made [1 not home]          33

Number of Food Requests Picked Up at Church          1

Number of People Helped (67 adults, 87 children)    154

Number of Bearden Volunteers (20 adults, 5 youth)    25

FISHfact:  Athletic coaches frequently say that some less experienced players will have to “step up” because the team is shorthanded at certain positions.  The Bearden FISH team is similarly not performing as well as it could because we are shorthanded – age and disabilities have diminished our roster.  But, this month we publicly recognize those folks who have recently “stepped up” to help the Bearden FISH team take food to hungry people.

First, Kim Lee and sometimes daughter Kate, now moved back to Knoxville, have delivered for three months.  Second, Jim & Cindy Black (he recently retired) have delivered.  Third, Wade Mitchell, husband of our frequent staff member and deliverer Nancy, has come with their sons Grant & Harrison.  Still the Bearden FISH team invites walk-ons to “step up,” so that we may serve more needy clients.

                     MY TURN IN THE NURSERY

Last Sunday was my turn in the Nursery to work.
My heart wasn't in it; and my feelings were hurt;
A child from its Mother did not want to part
And it cried at lot with its broken heart.

I prayed that soon the hour would end
Then I could relax - no more children to tend.
Soon the hour was over - felt good to be free
I said, "Once a month is too much for me."

That very next Sunday as I sat in the pew
A very good sermon but visitors were few.
But down came a woman and her soul was saved
And she was that Mother of that crying babe.

Then it dawned on me that I had been a part
Of one being saved - giving God their heart.
From that day on I never would dread
Working in the Nursery while souls were being fed.
