The following meetings will be taking place next

week in the Conference Room and all members

         are urged to attend:

             Finance Team, Monday, Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m.

                 IN APPRECIATION

We would like to thank our church family for their prayers and help during our recent medical difficulties. We want to invite everyone to a Christmas Open House at our home from 3 to 8 p.m.  Call us at 966-6130 for directions.              –Al & JoAnn Matz

                 UMW HOLIDAY MEETING AND

                 INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS

          December 4 – 6:30 p. m. in the Sanctuary

In addition to the installation of our new officers for 2007, we are privileged to have a musical performance by “Tapestry”.  We invite our entire congregation to join us for this special performance.  After the performance, we will share holiday “yummies”.  For planning purposes, please sign-up by e-mail to Donna Sanders at donnabs@knology.net or sign up at posters around the church.

Ready for the Holidays?  Ready for the food and fellowship?  Are you ready for your New Year’s Resolution to get into shape?  Get a head start on getting in shape by coming out for pick up basketball starting Nov. 26th from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. We will have fun sweating and shooting our way to a new body. If for no other reason, come out and see why Tom was known as “Silky Smooth” in seminary.  And, no, it is not because of the disco shirts he wore. Remember starting Nov. 26th from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. and continuing most Sundays until February.  See you on the court.

                              FROM THE PASTOR

A HUGE thanks to our Walk in Faith Team, to all those who turned in the commitment cards, and to those who will be turning their cards in during the next few days.

                                     In Christ,

                                     TLS

                          MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

A Room in the Inn.  Help fill the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) work board!  Servants are needed the week of Dec. 3-10 to provide a safe and comfortable temporary home for our IHN guests.  Display hospitality by interacting with guests as an evening Host, overnight Host, children homework helper, or providing a meal.  Show love by washing sheets at the end of the host week or helping with Set Up and Take Down, or help as needed during the week (i.e. provide a ride to work for a guest without transportation).  The IHN Work Board is located in the Atrium of the church.  Please take time this week to sign up. To learn more or to call and sign up, call Charla Sherbakoff at 450-5078.

IHN is a ministry to homeless families. Our church provides accommodations and meals for 3 to 5 families for one week every three months on a rotating schedule with other congre-gations. Sunday school rooms, the Youth rooms, and the gym are the primary rooms used during host week. These areas become temporary homes for the families.

Incorporate serving with IHN in your Christmas plans. What a wonderful gift to give someone - a room in the inn!

A Folder of Love.  If you missed picking up an Advent folder on Sunday, there are folders available in the Atrium and at various entrances to the church.  This year our Thanksgiving and Advent offering will be divided between the Hope for Sudan and Habitat for Humanity missions.  Your gift will provide benches for the school children of Sudan and supplies for a Bearden Habitat for Humanity Work Day.  You can bring your folder to the altar on Christmas Eve or place a gift in the offering plate between now and Christmas Eve.  When using the Advent folder, place it on your bedside or kitchen table.  Pray for the children in Sudan and for families who are working towards a place to call home.  And, give thanks for the opportunity to give and serve.

Costa Rica Mission Team.  Bearden UMC is going back to Costa Rica!  The Mission and Outreach team has established a Costa Rica Masson trip as a goal for 2007.  Our hope is that the people of Bearden will embrace a foreign mission trip every year.  To build on the experience gained from this year's trip, the decision was made to return to Costa Rica in 2007.  The 2007 mission team is for adults and high school/college age youth. A Costa Rica Informational meeting will be held December 7th in Room 219 at 7:00 PM.

Christmas Wreaths.  You can begin to support the 2007 Costa Rica mission by purchasing a beautiful 26" Noble Fir mixed fresh green Christmas wreath.  You have a choice of a wine or Christmas red colored extra-full bow.  The cost of the wreath is $29.  Wreaths will be ready for pickup during the week of December 4th. This Sunday, Nov. 19th is the last day for orders.

A NOTE FROM THE TAPE MINISTRY

Anyone who would like a CD or tape of Ellen Raines' service needs to leave a note with the church secretary. The note should include your name, phone number, a request for CD or tape, and where you would like the tape left.  Steve Allman mentioned that he will make the CD's, while I make the tapes.

                                    –Linda  Hahn

  Calling for your Celebration pictures.

Do you have a Celebration that you would like to share?  Graduation, Baptism, Birthday, Confirmation, Family Reunion, etc?  We are looking for digital photographs to possibly be included in a Praise & Worship service. For more information or if you are interested, email your pictures to Mary Martin at mmartin@ktnpba.org.  You can also put your photos in an envelope marked with your name and address. Place it in the Worship mailbox outside of the church office in the lobby. Pictures will be returned.

ATTENTION ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES!  If your class plans to have a Christmas Party and you haven’t turned this information in to the church office, please do so by Monday, November 20th!  Thanks!
