PAGER MINISTRY
Dot Steed has been given a pager as part of a pager ministry at a church in Nashville. The way it works is every time you pray for her, you are asked to dial a number. It will ask you for a phone number, but you can enter your zip code if you want. It will then page her. Every time she gets a page, she knows someone has prayed for her. Let's pray Dot and her family through this difficult time with constant paging. The number is 1-877-400-2180.
Children’s Ministry
There will be a meeting Parents of Preschoolers on Sunday, Oct. 8 in the sanctuary at 4:30 p.m.
Little Lambs will be rehearsing for their Christmas musical, “Angels, Lambs, Ladybugs and Fireflies” on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
October 8 will be the last Sunday the GAP (God’s Active Preteens) will collect cards for soldiers. To date, we only have about 20 cards. Please take a moment to send a soldier encouragement.
K-5th grade children are rehearsing “Angels Alert” on Wednesday evenings at 6”30 p.m. Please plan your week so the children can participate in the Christmas musical rehearsals.
POND GAP OUTREACH MINISTRY UPDATE
Praise the Lord! We have been notified that we have again received the Holston Conference Outreach Ministry Grant for summer of 2007. The list of mentor volunteers has been submitted to Pond Gap. Mentors will be called by the school. A special thank you to those mentor volunteers willing to serve Pond Gap children.
SNACKS NEEDED
Tuesday is Bearden chorus day at the Vestal Boys & Girls Club. We have 28 children in our weekly chorus there. Each child gets a drink and one Little Debbie Snack Cake at the end of chorus. If you would be willing to donate boxed juices and/or Little Debbies, please drop them by Donna’s office. Thanks! |
FROM THE PASTOR
Work days! Joe Burns has put the call out for guys, gals, boys , girls, horses, mules, and all trained work-parakeets to gather this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 Noon for a grounds work day. (There will be doughnuts, coffee and juice awaiting you.)
Work days are days when you work like a slave, laugh like a party, and finish feeling like a saint. Bring your trimmers, shovels, wheelbarrows, various weed eaters, hand tools, etc. and spend a little time doing a lot of good. The sanctuary also needs a good hand vacuuming and “Pledging.”
Hope a bunch of us can meet Joe this Saturday for a great effort, a great time, and a great blessing.
In Christ, TLS
P.S. In case you are wondering, I will supervise the coffee and doughnut consumption.
