FROM THE PASTOR
“Noah Built His Ark in the Sunshine.” This is the title of a new book by James Moore. The idea of the book is that we should not wait until crisis to get ready! Start building our “Ark” while the sky is blue and the humidity is low. Much like an athlete works out before competition you cannot get ready once the game is on. Another metaphor would be saving for an emergency. After the storm hits, you cannot save for that storm. Something has to already be in the bank.
Spiritually the same kind of rubrics apply. Spiritual strength is best when founded on week, months, and years of prayer. Spiritual strength comes best when we have the scriptures deep within us. James Moore says, “You need the scriptures inside of you, written indelibly on your heart.” Spiritual strength comes from being surrounded by a great community of faith. And absolutely imperative, spiritual strength come from worship.
Noah built his ark in the sunshine! That might just be a life principle for us. In Christ, TLS
A RUMMAGE “THANK YOU”
Last week a whole slew of people, adults and children, contributed oodles of hours to make sure the UMW Rummage Sale was successful. To all of you – THANK YOU!! You did good work and we made approximately $3100 for missions. Thank yous also go to all who contributed rummage and to all who purchased treasures at the sale. The Rummage Sale is always fun and uplifting – those who participate invariably find them-selves richly blessed. Again, thank you for your participation and your willingness to share. NOTE: We have found a leak in the rummage building roof. We need to repair if before we start storing spring rummage sale items in the building. Just check with the church secretary before you bring rummage to make sure the repairs are done.

CHILDREN & FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY NEWS. Praise the Lord! We have had new children in our preschool or Faithquest Rotation each Sunday for the last six weeks. God is tremendously blessing our children’s ministry. Hence, we are in desperate need of short-term volunteers in addition to parent volunteers. Please stop by the children’s ministry booth at the Ministry Expo and learn how you could serve one Sunday per quarter. Bearden children’s ministry needs your service. However, you will be blessed beyond measure when you experience God working in our children’s lives here at Bearden UMC.
Parents! Please take your children to the following areas at 6:30 on Wednesday evenings for program and Christmas musical rehearsal: Little Lambs (2’s, 3’s, 4’s) Creation Station – Kelly Forester, teacher K-2 Holy Ghost Stories – Nancy Mitchell, teacher 3-5 grades Computer Cathedral – Laughlin Smith, teacher Children may be picked up in the Fellowship Center.
