Thought
and Reflections
.. As I prepare to head out for the Costa Rica
Mission Trip, I keep reading a specific passage of the Bible, John chapter
13. This passage deals with Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. In an
act of service, Jesus shows that no one is greater than the other and that we
should serve each other. Later on in chapter 13, Jesus also gives the new
commandment of loving one another. These two themes I hope to carry with me
to the people of Costa Rica. Through service to others I hope to show the
love of God for everyone. The service I perform may not be glorious or
tremendous, but I hope it will glorify God. Truthfully, service is
never easy for me and I am sure I would have hated cleaning the nasty feel of
the disciples. However, Jesus showed even HE served others and through
service he showed Gods love and support. This passage gives me courage to
try something different and to bury my pride and serve. I find it interesting
that at the time we will be gone, Bearden will also have another opportunity
to wash others feet. IHN will be available for all those unable to go out of
the country. This ministry will be in my prayers in Costa Rica, Through
service, we will show the world the love of God. Shea McClure From the
Education Team ·
