                      Thought and Reflections……..

As I prepare to head out for the Costa Rica Mission Trip, I keep reading a specific passage of the Bible, John chapter 13. This passage deals with Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. In an act of service, Jesus shows that no one is greater than the other and that we should serve each other. Later on in chapter 13, Jesus also gives the new commandment of loving one another. These two themes I hope to carry with me to the people of Costa Rica. Through service to others I hope to show the love of God for everyone. The service I perform may not be glorious or tremendous, but I hope it will glorify God. Truthfully, service is never easy for me and I am sure I would have hated cleaning the nasty feel of the disciples. However, Jesus showed even HE served others and through service he showed God’s love and support. This passage gives me courage to try something different and to bury my pride and serve. I find it interesting that at the time we will be gone, Bearden will also have another opportunity to wash others’ feet. IHN will be available for all those unable to go out of the country. This ministry will be in my prayers in Costa Rica, Through service, we will show the world the love of God.

From the Education Team

·          Matt Deere is coordinating the creation of scenery and decorations for Artic Edge VBS. Work began last Saturday. Matt will have the gym open on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and needs volunteers to paint and assemble.  Come on down and help make our VBS a “cool” place to be.

·          Preschool VBS will begin with snack supper at 6:00 p.m. and onto classes at 6:30 p.m. There is “teaching” curriculum beginning with walkers. Preschoolers will have a 10 minute Worship Rally in the sanctuary with their parents at 7:30 and will be dismissed at 7:40.  Nursery childcare will be provided for infants.

·          Register! Register! Register! We are asking that you register your child for VBS as soon as possible. Due to the increase in children in our summer programs, registration is necessary in order to assure that we have enough supplies and adequate staffing!  We are looking forward to a great time.
