MISSIONS CORNER
Eric Rodgers, a
missionary, delivered a challenging message to the congregation this past
Sunday. I jokingly commented to Eric
after the service that could he not have given us just a simple message and
not one so challenging. He quipped, "OK here's one - God loves you!” Yes, as Christ's ambassadors we have a
simple message to proclaim to the nations - God loves you. In his message,
Eric pointed out that he has been working with Campus Crusade for 11
years. Eric is always grateful to Bearden for support of his ministry.
He acknowledges that he has had the privilege of growing up in this church,
having been shared with, having been led, having been nurtured in his faith.
He has been sent by this church - sent on youth ministry trips, sent as a
chaperone for youth trips, sent by being involved in community ministries. He
is grateful to Bearden church. Eric did not mention
in his message that he raises 100% of his financial support. If you
are interested in helping support Eric by a monthly financial gift, please
call him at 385-1445 or e-mail eric.rodgers@uscm.org. I recently learned last week during a
college visit that only 5% of college students nation wide attend a religious
event once a week. There is a need for young men and women to know Jesus
Christ and how the Lord relates to their everyday life. Charla Sherbakoff Outreach
Missions Team NEW CLASS. We are reaching out to our young adults and
developing a new Sunday School class for them. This will be a class
into which visiting young adults will easily fit. To kick off our new
class we are having a get together at the preacher’s house, and he has
offered to cook for us! Plan to join us on May 6th at SYMPATHY
. . . is extended to Stacey Rivers and family on the death of her grandmother, Viola
Lyvers Smith, age 90 of Kingston, on Wed., April 19th; and to Martha Anderson and Elizabeth Peters and family on the
death of their son and brother, respectively, Doug Anderson of Knoxville, on
Mon., April 24th. UMW NOTES --Members of Bearden UMW are invited to

--If you have not turned in your Least
Coin donations please give them to Darlene Bledsoe or leave them with Janice
in the church office. --May 8 UMW General Meeting – “What IS this Summer
Thing?” I know we have all seen the
sign up sheets and heard mention of the summer camps being held here at our
church this summer. But, exactly what is it? Where did the money
come from? Why are we doing this? What is my roll? How can
I help? Donna Lewis will be answering all of these questions and more
during the Monday, May 8 UMW General Meeting at |
