FROM THE PASTOR. Sunday School
is for living! Sunday School has made
a difference is countless lives! I
believe that Sunday School is making and will yet make a difference in
dozens, hundreds, and thousands of lives across the In Sunday
School there is a body of instruction.
But just as importantly there is a tacit instruction of the
class. One person said, “Faith is
caught as much as it is taught!”
George Hunter of Asbury talks in a number of books about the
“contagious” nature of the gospel.
Maybe we need to pray that our classes would become contagious. Wow! In Sunday
School we connect with sinner, seeker, and saint. You or I might be in anyone of these
categories. In the class settings
bridges of faith, trust, acceptance, and love are built. For new folks this is vital. For we who are on the inside this is a
garden of nurture. In both cases the
harvest is awaiting. Sunday School
Is For Living! In
Christ, TLS UNITED METHODIST WOMEN NEWS Bearden has 3
members who are attending the Annual
Young Women’s Event in Pigeon Forge this coming
weekend. They are asked to bring
sample sizes of the following items to put in personal care bags for outreach
ministry: shampoo, deodorant,
mouthwash, lotion, band-aids, and hand sanitizer. If you are able to provide any of these
items please place them in the UMW basket in the workroom by Thurs., March
23. The
Knoxville District Time Apart Observance will be Saturday, April 1, at Women of
Joy Retreat: If you are attending this retreat in
Gatlinburg on April 7-9 and would like to carpool; please contact Anne Beaver
(558-8972) or Nancy Cooper (603-4708). Mark your calendars
Monday, May 8th for the Spring General Meeting. Details will follow. RUMMAGE SALE.
The
UMW spring rummage sale will be held on Sat., April 1 at your calendars.
No experience necessary; we offer on-the-job training! Your help will be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (continued) when there are so many
tasks at hand, I am reminded of the verse in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not
become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest." Also Christ's words in
John 13:14: "Now that I, your
Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's
feet. I have set for you an example that you should do as I have done
for you." A week of ministry opportunity is at hand! --Charla Sherbakoff - IHN

GREAT HOUR OF SHARING AND UMCOR. The One
Great Hour of Sharing offering is essential to UMCOR (the United Methodist
Committee on Relief). UMCOR receives
no World Service funds or any other apportionments. Through their gifts to the offering, United
Methodists can assure that when catastrophes cause suffering our church will
be in the lead to ease the pain. Gifts
to the One Great Hour of Sharing underwrite UMCOR’s operating costs, so that
100% of every dollar you donate to a specific UMCOR project can be spent on
that project and not on home office administrative costs. Offer-ing gifts over and above
administrative costs are channeled where they’re most needed. 25—Bessie
