Because I live, you also will live. On that day

you will realize that I am in my Father, and you

Sunday School Is For Living!

This is our theme for Bearden’s Sunday School.  We believe that Sunday School is a life enriching experience.  We believe this so much that we want to have a Sunday School that reaches out to the unchurched, the inactive, and anyone else that is not involved in a class or group.

Our Education Team and Church Council have established March as a time for us to search the highways and byways and compel (invite) these folks to be part of our disciple growing congregation.  We will have Mr. Sunday School and Ms. Veggie Tale to help us focus and to have some fun as part of this outreach.

I want to invite every class to make two prayer/contact lists.  The first is a list of the strayed, lost, missing, and inactives.  And, then make a second list of people within our circles of living (friend, family, neighbor) that is unchurched.  If you do not have anyone in your circle that is unchurched, pray that God will send someone to you or you to someone.

Lastly, please put on your welcome and when you see someone you do not know, greet them until you can call them friend!  Blessings,

                                      In Christ,

                                      TLS

MANY THANKS!  Thank you to everyone who helped with the college-age/Emory & Henry Choir lunch.  The response of this congregation to help with food, setting up, greeting, serving, and cleaning was tremendous!  I was truly blessed by the support from the church.   –Michelle McClure

LENTEN MOMENTS.  Beginning March 5 and continuing during the upcoming Lenten season, a few moments will be taken during each worship service to reflect upon the crucifixion of Jesus.  Each ‘Lenten Moment’ will involve one person reading selected scripture while a symbol of Christ’s suffering is presented at the altar by a second person.  A total of 24 people are needed to assist with the reading and presenting of symbols over a period of 6 weeks.  If you are interested in assisting with this effort, please contact Les Beaver [558-8972] to have your name placed on a volunteer sheet.

                WEDNESDAY NIGHT CHILDREN’S MEALS

Due to the number of children we are blessed to be having on Wednesday evening, and health and safety regulations, children will no longer be going into the kitchen to receive their meal.  A children’s serving table has been set up which will have their tray, silverware, plate, napkin and their menu food.  (The cost of the children’s meal is $2.00 per child).  The kitchen staff has been serving the children, but there will not be staff available to be at the children’s serving table to dish their food for them.  Therefore, if a child is too young to manage preparing his or her own plate, then the parent will need to assist the child.  In addition, we need to be sure that all children’s plates, cups and trays are cleaned up from the table and not left on the table.  High chair trays need to be taken up front.  The high chair trays can be run through the dishwasher.

                              UMW RUMMAGE SALE

The UMW spring rummage sale will be held on Sat., April 1 at 7:30 a.m.  Setup days are scheduled for Wed., March 29th at 7:30 p.m. and Thurs. and Fri., March 30th and 31st at 9 a.m.  We learned from the last sale that Knox Area Rescue Ministries is now limited to what donations that they can take.  Please do not bring any old, broken or heavily worn furniture, broken toys, old computers or appliances that no longer work.  We don’t want to seem ungrateful but these items do not sell and we have to pay someone to haul them off.

            YOOHOO!  20's -40's SINGLES & MARRIEDS!

(We like to call it a "Young Adult" class) Break out of the "I don't do Sunday School" mold and live it up on Sunday mornings with the Pathfinders in Room #215 at 10 am.  We will begin Chuck Swindoll's study, "So, You Want To Be Like Christ" on March 12th.  This study is just right for anyone desiring to delve deeper into the fundamental elements of Christian life. We will explore eight spiritual disciplines of the Christian faith - prayer, humility, self-control, sacrifice, sub-mission, solitude, and hope. Come on and start living it up! You may even throw your mold away!
